What Base Plate do You Recommend to Use with My 3/4 D-Rings on My 2008 Jeep Wrangler?

Question:

Okay, thank you! Since we aren't certain exactly what bumper it is - there are no names, etc. Is there another baseplate option? Is there a baseplate that we can use instead of hooking to the bumper?

Thanks for reaching out to us here at etrailer. It looks like there might be some D-rings on your bumper. Is that correct? If so, do you know the measurement of those D-rings? You should be able to attach a photo to a response to this answer.

Thanks so much! We've heard that it's not always safe to attach the tow bar to the d-rings. Is that true? As I mentioned, the bumper is aftermarket and we think it's the barricade - that the closest based on pictures we've found. We didn’t put the bumper on but it's definitely bolted to the frame. Are all bumpers strong enough?

Thanks so much for the photos! From the photos, you have 3/4 inch D-ring mounts on your Barricade bumper on your 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK. Since you already have the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch # RM-576, I recommend using the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts to Roadmaster Motor Home Mount Tow Bars - 3/4" Thick # RM-035. With this adapter, it is important to make sure that the hole diameter is either 7/8" or 1". In addition to these parts, if you need to complete the setup, I recommend the following components: - Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 - Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play Supplemental Braking # SM99251 Since the Sterling already came with a plug, the diode kit connects your RV's tail, brake and turn signal lights to your towed car's lighting system. In addition, you will also receive the proportional action of the SBS Stay-IN-Play which applies the Wrangler's brakes at the same level that you apply the brakes to your RV. As with all aftermarket bumpers, it is really important to check with the bumper manufacturer to make sure that it is approved for flat-towing.
