Can I Use the Blue Ox Track Pro with My 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid with Trailer Stability Assist?
Question:
Vehicle info: 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid T8 5000 lbs tow capacity Just purchased a 21ft travel trailer ~4000lbs GVWR that we would like to pull with the Volvo and purchased the following to help with ride and sway control: Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 6K GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # BLU36FR The RV dealer said they could not install this on the trailer/vehicle as it is not allowed by Volvo due to the trailer stability assist TSA that is part of the vehicles Electronic Stability Control system. Can you confirm if this is true or provide any additional information if a weight distribution system can indeed be used on the vehicle. Currently have the following installed on the vehicle: 1 Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Item # 76194 2 T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118683 3 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation part # ETBC7L 4 Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 Thanks

I went ahead and confirmed with your 2016 Volvo XC90 Hybrid's owner's manual that it does not appear that Volvo has any guidelines about using a weight distribution system with the Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) activated. However, worse comes to worst, you can always turn off the TSA by selects Sport mode by deactivating the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) via the menu system in the center display. This will eliminate the issue of using the Blue Ox Track Track Pro # BLU36FR. With this being said, I recommend looking over your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure you are following all the guidelines outlined.
With all the parts and weight limitations you listed, you will be able to safely tow your ~4,000 pound travel trailer.
