Can I Swap The 12" Wheels On The CE Smith Multi Sport Trailer CE48870 To 13" Wheels?

Question:

Hello, could I order the trailer and instead of getting the 12inch wheels it comes with could I upgrade to the AM31994 wheel/tire combo? Its a tad overkill for a 12foot jon boat I know but I want the peace of mind. If I could Id probably order three so I can have a spare. Thanks !!

Though it is possible to upgrade the wheels on the CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer # CE48870 to a 13" option, like the Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel # AM31994, it will have to be a separate purchase and cannot be swapped out by us. This is kitted together from CE Smith and isn't something we can change parts on, unfortunately.

I do also have to mention that going with a larger tire/wheel will require a few things to be done. First, the hub that comes included with this is only rated for use with wheels up to 12", so you will need to replace them with the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13315. The fenders are also only designed to be used with 12" wheels, so you will need to replace them with something like the Single Axle Trailer Fender # HP37FR. You also want at least 3" from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender, so you may need to raise these fenders up a little to get this clearance.

So with all that being said, it is possible, but isn't the way I recommend upgrading them. The better way to do it will be to use the 12" wheels that come included and swap the tires to the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10130, This will give you a much nicer tire and will not require other parts to be changed out. I am not sure what the wheel is rated to though, so you may want to upgrade that to the Americana Trailer Wheel # AM20134 as well.
