Torque Specifications For Any Bolts, Other Than The Anti-Rattle Bolt, For Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack

Question:

Hello: The anti-rattle bolt needs to be torqued to 75 ft lbs per instructions. Are there torque specs for the other bolts in the rack assembly? BTW, that 75 ft lbs is rather a lot, and as I only recently realized, it makes a big difference in the racks movement in the receiver when that bolt is torqued all the way to 75. Though it is clearly written in the directions, it might be an issue for other folks who have indicated that they have too much play in their racks.

There are not exact torque specs for the other bolts in the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting, part # C18085. I took a look at the installation instructions and like you, I only saw a torque specifications associated with the anti-rattle hitch bolt. If you tighten the other bolts and make sure they are secure, you should be fine. The anti-rattle hitch bolt is the only bolt that interfaces with something other than the rack itself and it is responsible for keeping your hitch bike rack attached to the hitch receiver. That is the reason for the torque specification for the anti-rattle hitch bolt.

I have included a video review link below.
