Best Way to Carry 2 Beach Cruisers with a 2011 Toyota Camry
Question:
My husband and I would like to know if you have a carrier that would properly and safely carry these heavier and larger bikes with comfort seats. We bought a 2011 Camry LE and prefer not to have to put a hitch carrier on it. Do you have a trunk carrier that would meet our needs and not scratch or mar the car finish? Your reply would be appreciated. Thank you.

We do have a few options that will allow you to carry your beach cruisers with your 2011 Toyota Camry. While it may be possible to carry your beach cruisers with a trunk mount bike rack, I strongly recommend using a hitch mounted bike rack like the Hollywood Racks Platform-Style Bike Rack, # HR200Z due to the weight of the bikes. Using a hitch mounted bike rack is the safest way to carry these bikes because the bikes and the bike rack will not contact your vehicle. The platform-style rack also makes it much easier to load and unload heavy bikes. This bike rack has a weight capacity of 45 lbs per bike.
You must have a trailer hitch to use a hitch mounted bike rack. If you do not already have a trailer hitch installed, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch, # 36416. This Class II trailer hitch was designed to fit your vehicle and is the best value of the hitches that are available for your Camry.
Finally, beach cruisers can often have angled frames that make it difficult to load on the arms of a trunk mount bike rack. Sometimes they must be mounted at an angle and that can cause ground clearance issues. To solve this issue, I recommend picking up the Hollywood Racks Bike Adapter Bar, # HRBA-PRO.
