Is The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Compatible With A 1989 Ford F-250

Question:

So Ive got a older model ford, usually haul a tandem axle power washing trailer around 4k in weight and a 40ft travel trailer 14k in weight. Due to a short somewhere Im replacing all the electrical for the trailer on the truck. My only concern with the product is my truck is a 1989 f250 diesel 5speed, I understand the product runs off the brake switch signal under the pedal but my truck doesnt really have all the electrical that modern trucks have. Will this product still work ?

Even with the age of your 1989 Ford F-250 you would still have a brake light wire to trigger your taillights when the pedal is depressed. You can find this wire by pressing the pedal and using the LCD Digital Circuit Tester # PTW2992 to find the wire receiving power.

The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 2 Braking Modes - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional # RED44FR is also compatible with the power wire of the third brake light if finding the brake light switch wire isn't an option. This method will require a lot more work but is a viable option in a pinch.

You can use the # 331-TPSI-001 for a cleaner factory look on your dash when installing the control knob.

I've attached a video below where David will walk you through the process of installing the # RED44FR.
