Troubleshooting Bounce Issues With A Gooseneck Horse Trailer

Question:

I have a gooseneck horse trailer 6,300lbs. Added air bags and its not really swaying but it is very bouncy when on concrete roads, going over bridges, or just bad bumpy roads. The bumping is pretty bad. Will adding a sway bar help this?

A sway bar isn't going to help reduce the bounce you've been experiencing with your horse trailer. It sounds to me like you have the PSI level of your air bags either too low or too high. If you don't already have an on-board compressor watch the PSI of your air bags and adjust accordingly to the weight of the trailer load then I recommend the Firestone Air Command II - Analog Gauge w/ Standard-Duty Compressor - Dual Function - 130 psi # F2178.

This compressor has a dual-gauge control in your cab that levels one set of springs independently or two pairs equally with the flick of a switch. The easy to read gauge will show you the PSI level of your airbags. This kit includes everything you need to control your airbags and has a standard-duty air compressor with 130 max PSI.

You'll also want to ensure the trailer's suspension is in good working order because if it is too worn out then the air bags won't help and it'll just be bouncy regardless.
