Should The Settings On The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Be Changed When Driving On Snow and Ice?

Question:

Should I back the gain off a little bit on trailer brakes traveling in snow and ice?

With a proportional brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 you will not need to reduce the gain as the brakes will only activate as hard as it feels the vehicle slowing down.

One thing that will help you to slow the trailer is to pump your vehicle brakes. Since the trailer brakes will easily lock up on snow and ice like vehicle brakes did before the days of Anti Lock Brakes, this will help reduce the chances of the trailer sliding left or right as you are preventing the trailer brakes from staying locked up.
