Cargo Carrier Recommendation to Clear The Rear Spare of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I want to put a cargo carrier on my Jeep but need to get it past the spare tire. The dimension from the receiver hitch pin hole to the back of the spare is 8 inches. What will work? Additionally I would like to add another piece to the back of the platform, the load would be minimal, that would slide the square tubing shown on your photo, would a standard 2inch fit that hole?

I believe your best option would be to get the etrailer folding carrier # e98874. This carrier has a distance of 19 1/2" inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the carrier when it is in use, and 9 1/2" when it is folded up for storage, so it should clear your spare tire pretty easily since you have 8 inches from the the center of the hitch pin to the furthest point out of the spare.
You would not want to install anything on the rear of the cargo carrier. The extra torque and leverage on the hitch and carrier would most likely damage something. And since this has never been tested like this I cannot recommend you attempt to try this. Also, a standard 2 inch shank hitch accessory would not work either as it is not designed for this.
