Will Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System Discharge Battery of 2022 Jeep Gladiator While Towing

I'm interested in a portable brake system like the Blue Ox Patriot, but I hear that they would drain the battery in my 2022 Gladiator while I'm towing it. Is that true?

Expert Reply:
Using any accessory that draws power while the vehicle isn't running will drain the battery.
To avoid this, you'll want to install a charge line kit like # RM-156-25 on the vehicle, so the 12-v feed from the motorhome's 7-way trailer connector will keep the Jeep's battery topped off as you're towing. It's also a good idea to start the engine of the Jeep each time you stop for fuel and let it run for a few minutes to ensure the battery is fully charged.
You'll also need a stop light switch kit, part # RM-751497, so the monitor installed on the motorhome will know when the Jeep's brake is being applied.
