Left Turn Signal Stopped Working on 2013 Subaru Impreza WRX Trailer Wiring Harness
Question:
5 wires come out of RV to mate up with Hopkins flat converter to 4 wires, of which yellow left signal fails. The Hoppy then connects through round connector to eventually connect to 6 wires into Subaru WRX. Just replace Hoppy? Its less than 3 months old.

Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the wires going into and coming out of the converter box. If the signals are not correct going in then there is an issue on the vehicle side such as a broken connection, loose wire, or blown turn signal fuse. If the signals are correct going into the box but not correct coming out, then the converter is bad, and it will need to be replaced. I have linked a video that should help.
If you are in need of a new harness after testing it then I recommend # C59236. This is a hardwire powered converter that should work well for you. I have linked the installation instructions for you.
The above harnesses are for towing a trailer with the Subaru. But if you are towing the Subaru behind a motor home, called flat towing, towing 4-down, or dinghy towing, OR towing it behind a motor home on a dolly then you will need a different type of harness like # 154-792-118158. I have linked the installation instructions for this harness as well.
For either instance make sure that there are no wires in the rest of the wiring that are nicked and touching bare metal. This can cause a short and unless it is tracked down and fixed it will continue to happen.
