Troubleshooting Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Not Working with Brake Pedal

Question:

I have a 2018 F350 SuperDuty XLT. My trailer has a Dexter break away system on 1600psi. The pump kicks on when using the manual electric break system in the truck but not when I press the break pedal. Do I have something wired Wong or do I need an adapter of some sort.

We've found that typically when the problem you have arises the issue is a blown third brake light fuse as this is same circuit as what activates brake controller with brake pedal. So I would check and see if all of your brake lights come on when you hit the brakes to check that. If that seems to be fine I would then say that you'd need the adapter part # DX35FR with your Dexter electric over hydraulic actuator part # K71-651.
