Typical Distance Between Equalizer Hanger and Frame Bracket for Roadmaster Shock Installation

Question:

I have a Lippert frame with 7,200lb tandem axles and 3,500lb leaf springs, and 16” rims/tires….16,000lb GVWR 5th wheel VanLeigh 320GK. Do you have an idea what the typical distance would be between the center frame bracket and the shock mounting bracket? I am replacing all of the leaf springs with 3,500lb leaf springs warranty replacement, so will have unabated access to be able to drill and mount the 4 upper shock brackets before I reinstall the leaf springs.

When installing the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers # RM-2460 the distance is determined by the first shock you install. According to the instructions, optimum trailer handling is achieved when the shock is at approximately a 30 degree angle.

While the shock is restrained at a 14-1/2" length, you will swing the shock and frame bracket up to the bottom of the frame and measure the angle. 30 degrees is ideal, but the instructions say to ensure the shock angle is within 20-40 degrees. Once you have fully installed the first shock you will be able to measure the distance between the equalizer hanger and frame bracket to determine the position of the remaining shocks.

I have attached the written instructions which outline these steps in greater detail, along with an installation video for your reference.
