What Affordable Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2014 Hyundai Sante Fe AWD?

Question:

Hi - hope you can help me. I have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe limited AWD SUV. The tire size is 235/55/R19. We are going to be going to Yosemite after Christmas and I need chains/cables for the car. Can you recommend affordable chains? Do I need them for all four tires? Thank you for the assistance!

Help is to the rescue! I went ahead and looked up your tire specs in the owner's manual of your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the manual states that you can either use front chains only or all 4 tires for your all-wheel drive model.

For standard 235/55-19 tires, the manual recommends using tire chain thickness less than 15mm. For affordable chains that fit these specs, I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - V-Bar Links # TC2819. These economical tire chains have the advantage of having the v-bar studs that will give you great traction on heavy ice in addition to deep snow. As far as link thickness, they have a thickness of only 5.5mm which will give you plenty of wheel well clearance on your Santa Fe. This part only comes with 1 set, so you will need to order 2 sets for all 4 tires.

With these chains, I definitely recommend the Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Light Trucks # TCMA2. These tensioners will make the installation process easier as well as eliminate the headache of having to adjust the chains after each trip.

Hope you have a great trip to Yosemite!
