How to Choose Correct Replacement Trailer Axle for Homemade Trailer

Question:

I have a homemade trailer that has mobile home axles under it now. I want to swap to standard axles. The ones under it now are 3 in around with a 69-inch spring center. The tires are at 72 inches center. Do you have anything like this that would include axle hubs and wheels and tires?

I would be more than happy to help you figure out a replacement axle for your trailer, but there are a few things that we need to check out.

The hub-face and spring-center measurements that you gave me aren't standard, especially with a 3" diameter axle, so we would want to double check all of our measurements prior to getting a replacement. If what you gave me is exactly what you need then you'll need to go to a trailer shop and have something custom-ordered. Otherwise an axle like the Dexter Trailer Axle # 8327826-EB would be the closest thing that we have to a complete setup as it comes with the axle and hub/drum assembly. This axle has a 71-1/2" spring-center and an 86-1/2" hub-face which you can see both in the review video and the included photo.

If you can verify the spring-center and hub-face measurements as well as the weight rating of your trailer axle (or the GVWR of your trailer and how many axles it has) I can see if we have something that matches your specs better.
