Can Chain Style Snow Tire Chains Be Used On a 2021 Honda CR-V
Question:
I live in Colorado and with snow season coming I would like to get good chains for my tires that can handle a lot of snow and also ice. I am confused of what product to get given I found contradicting answers regarding Honda CRVs given the clearance issue. A few posts recommended item number TH0159424 while one specifically says but because the owners manual Strongly Recommendsinch cable-style chains, Id be a little hesitant using these.. I want to make sure I dont damage my car. The manual recommends a specific one to use but it does not have good reviews and I want to make sure I feel safe. Also is it safe to assume I should only use it on the front wheels for this car? Thanks!

Technically, the only style of traction device you can use on a 2021 Honda CR-V are cables. That said, cables don't work well for moderate/extreme conditions. The reason you can only use cables has to do with the space between the inside of the tire and the vehicle, not on top necessarily. Therefore, if you were to use the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains part # TH02230K66 which don't wrap around the tire you would not have this issue. These will provide much more traction in snow and ice when compared to the cable style but they are technically not allowed. It all comes down to what you feel comfortable doing and the level of traction you need but the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains are what I recommend.
