Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 1988 Jeep MJ Comanche

Question:

I have a 1988 Jeep MJ Comanche pickup truck the mid sized version. The frame dimensions are 391/2inch between the inside of the frame rails and 451/2inch to the outside of the frame rails. To clear the bottom of the bumper the top of the square receiver needs to be at least 8inch below the bottom of the frame rail. There is approximately 18inch from the top of the frame rail to the position where the top of the receiver would clear the bottom of the bumper. What are the dimensions of hitch e98901 at the critical points I have described? The hitch can either be bolted or welded in place. I know this hitch will not be a direct fit to my Jeep Comanche, but if the dimensions between the frame rails or to the outside of the frame rails are close I could use it. Can hitch #e98901 be modified to fit my 1988 Jeep MJ Comanche with modifications?

I do have an option for you but there are no custom bolt-on trailer hitch options for a 1988 Jeep MJ Comanche. You can't use a custom fit option for another vehicle either, you'll have to a universal one such as the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 41990-16. The side brackets can be modified to fit your application whether that means cutting, drilling, or welding. They are 16" long which you will need for such as deep drop bumper.
