What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek?
Question:
I have a 2015 crosstrek tire size 225/55/r17 you recommend Glasier PW1038 1. That car needs low profile .... have these been tested with a Crosstrek? Do I need 4 due to the all wheel drive? Thanks

I have a great tire chains option for you. I went ahead and confirmed with the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek's owner's manual that Subaru does not recommend using tire chains on your vehicle. However, the reason why manufacturers say this is usually to avoid liability if damage occurs to components inside of your vehicle's wheel wells.
I am pleased to say that we have had neighbors who have had great results with the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains - 1 Pair # PW1038 on a Crosstrek with 225/55-17 tires. Along with the chains, I recommend the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters - Light-Truck Chains - 15" to 18" Rims # PW105. The tensioners provide constant tension on your chains to give you a tight fit.
If you want an even safer and higher quality option, I recommend the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link # TH02230K44. The reason why these are the safest is because no part of the chain installs on the inside of the tire. I went ahead and linked a picture that shows the interior of the tire with the chains installed. Also, with the self-tensioning functionality, you will never need to tighten the chains (which is recommended after each trip for non-tensioning chains). The Konig chains also come with superior overall traction.
All tire chains for your Crosstrek must be used with your front tires only.
