What Tonneau Cover and Ladder Rack do You Recommend for My 2020 Ram 1500 with Multi-Pro Tailgate?

I am in the process of purchasing a 2020 Ram Limited pu truck with the 6’4” bed and multi function tailgate. I want to add a Tonneau cover and adjustable rack system Thinking of the Yakima adjustable rack and the X-ray rolling cover. How suited are these items for the vehicle? What additional items are required to use these items in concert with one another? What is the ease of uninstalling the Yakima rack when not needed? Appreciate any feedback and/or advice prior to deciding. Thank you,

From what you were looking at in your search history, I am assuming you mean the RetraxPRO XR tonneau cover for your 2020 Ram 1500 (6-1/2 foot bed without RamBox and with a multi-function tailgate). Unfortunately, these covers will not work with the multi-function tailgate on your 1500. We also do not have a retractable-style cover that will work with your tailgate.

However, with that being said, a great alternative cover that will work with your tailgate and allow you to simultaneously install a ladder rack is the Access LiteRider Soft, Roll-Up Tonneau Cover # A35VR. The LiteRider is a roll-up style cover that will allow you to have functionality of your tailgate (even when the cover is closed). Also, since the tonneau installs in the trucks bed rails, it leaves the stake pockets open to install a ladder rack with it.

Since the LiteRider installs in the bed's rails, it will require full use of those rails. Unfortunately, the Yakima Overhaul HD # Y01151-58 clamps around the bed's rails which will not allow the LiteRider to function. Currently, we do not carry any tonneau cover that will allow the OverHaul HD to install at the same time. However, for a great ladder rack option that will work, I recommend the Adarac Pro Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack # A49FR. Apart from the 500 pound maximum weight capacity, the Adarac Pro Series ladder rack has bases that stand straight up instead of angling inward. This is a great feature because most ladder racks have that inward angle that will interfere with roll-up covers like the LiteRider. You will not have that interference with the Adarac Pro Series. As far as the installation, the Adarac pro series involves a simple no-drill installation process and comes with all included hardware.

The Pro Series also gives you the option of adding great accessories like the tie-down kit # A4000882 and load stops # A4000880 for extra cargo security during transport. If you need straps to tie-down your cargo, I recommend the SmartStraps ratchet straps # 348155.

Both the LiteRider and the Adarac Ladder Rack include all hardware for an easy installation.
