Can a Sidewinder be Locked Out so the Trailer Will Pivot at the Hitch

Can you put bolts in the sidewinder kingpin so it rotates at the 5th wheel?

The turret can be locked out so the Sidewinder, # RP61412, will pivot at the hitch. You will first need to make sure the wedge at the bottom of the Sidewinder is removed so it can pivot at the hitch. Then you will look under the turret. There will be 2 bolts or just bolt holes. These holes are for two 3/4 inch grade 5 bolts and nuts and will prevent the turret from rotating. Take a look at the instructions I have linked on page 6 for more on the lock out feature.

The turret should only be locked out if there is enough clearance between the truck and trailer to make tight turns. I have included a link to our Sidewinder main page for you.
