Replacement Trailer Connector and Wiring Harness for a Corroded One on a 2001 Ford F-150
Question:
Is there enough wire to reach from the bumper to the frame at the center of the spare tire where the factory plugin is, as the wires on the back of the plug that goes into the trailer connector socket are corroded? Please suggest the right part thank you.

What you could use is the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975 with wiring harness # PK11998. This will replace the trailer connector and the wiring but you will need to attach the wires from the harness to the factory wires by function, not color.
The wiring on the harness is as follows:
Red - Left Turn and Stop
White - Ground
Blue - Electric Brakes
Green - Right Turn and Stop
Black - Battery
Brown - Running Lamps
Yellow - Backup Lamps
Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if you do not already have one to determine the functions of the wires. Or you can note the existing positions of the wires on the back of the existing connector and follow the diagram in the FAQ I have linked to get everything in the correct place.
You may be able to get just the wiring harness part you need from a Ford dealer if you wanted to go that route.
