Is the Fifth Green Wire Needed from the Toyota Wiring Harness to Install a Hopkins Brake Controller
Question:
I am using the original equipment wire harness for my install. After matching wires per trailer brake specs I have 1 small green wire left on the original harness. Would this be considered a ground wire? I am using a Hopkins model# 47284

The green wire you have found is not necessary to use to complete the install of your brake controller and I would not worry about it. This is an illumination circuit that is totally not needed to install the Hopkins brake controller you have.
If you check out the FAQ article I attached you can scroll down to the OEM wiring harness color guide and you can see that the green wire is not used.
