Using A Kat's Engine Block Heater While The Engine Is Running

Question:

Hello, I saw your video review of the Kats in line coolant heater and I had a question. Your review ended with the statement to never run the heater with the engine running thats exactly what I wanted to do. I have a European import TDI engine in Northern Canada. The engine came with a hydronic heater that runs while the engines running. Unfortunately that hydronic heater is failed and its about $2,000 to replace it. I was hoping the Kats heater plugged into my inverter would be an inexpensive way to replace that hydronic heater. Is there any specific reason that you know of why this wouldnt be an option?

Per the manufacturer the heating element # KH11419 should not be energized while starting the engine. The vibrations in conjunction with the added engine heat will cause the element to burn out or rupture. It is also advisable to wait a minimum of 1 minute after unplugging heater before starting engine. Additionally, if the heater is being used on a
generator or other stand-by equipment an oil pressure switch for automatic cut-off may be required.
