Can The Master Lock 2866DAT Work With A Hollywood Racks Sport Rider HR1000Z Bike Rack?
Question:
Hello, Can I buy just this pin from this product, without the lock? https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Pins-and-Clips/Master-Lock/2866DAT.html I have a Hollywood bike carrier and I like this pin better than the one that came with my carrier. I want to keep my lock, though, because it is keyed alike with the carrier.

As the hitch pin on your Hollywood Racks Sport Rider # HR1000Z bike rack is threaded, the Master Lock # 2866DAT locks will not fit without having to drill the threads out of the shank. The threads are there so that when you tighten the pin into the shank, it will secure the rack more tightly and keep it from wobbling in the hitch. Drilling them out will cause you to lose this feature.
I can also say that Master Lock parts will only work with Master Lock parts, so there is a very very high likelihood that the pins from the # 2866DAT will not allow for the Hollywood Racks locks to fit properly, unfortunately. If you do end up drilling out the threads in the shank, you will most likely need to use the Master Lock locks with the pins.
