2014 Honda CR-V Brake Light On All The Time When Tow Vehicle's Runnings Lights On

Question:

Pulling my 2014 Honda CRV behind 1999 National RV. Have 7 blade to 6 round Hopkins wire harness 47053. My tow vehicle has the right brake lite always on and right RV turn signal activates the tow vehicle left blinker BUT ONLY WHEN RV RUNNING LIGHTS ARE ON. Seems to work fine when RV lights are off Please help.

It sounds like you may have a short or a bad ground somewhere in your wiring. What you'll want to do first is inspect both the towed vehicle, and the tow vehicle's connectors. Make sure there is no corrosion or rust buildup in the connectors.

Next, check your ground connections. Ensure that your ground connections are on a good, clean, part of the vehicle's frame. If the connections are loose, or corroded/rusted, the issue is most likely here. If your grounds check out, you'll then want to disconnect your tow vehicle from your towed vehicle.

From here, you'll want to check the functionality of your tow vehicle side connector with # PTW2993, if any of the functions on the connector do not work as intended, you'll need to trace the wire down for a break or frays.
