Can The Arms Of The Hollywood Racks SR2 Bike Rack Be Turned To Haul Bikes Vertically

Question:

will this rack allow the bikes to be mounted verticall instead of horizontally? Basically rotating the rack 90 degrees so the wheels are up and down. Thanks!

The design of the Hollywood Racks SR2 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount # HRSR2 doesn't allow for you to haul your bikes vertically. The straps that hold the frame of the bike aren't going to clamp tight enough for the bikes to stay in position and they will most likely slide down and make contact with the ground as you drive.

To haul your bikes vertically you would instead need a vertical hanging rack like the Yakima HangOver Bike Rack for 4 Mountain Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02484. Since you were looking at a spare tire mounted rack we'll need to know the size of the tire you have on your 2002 Ford Van so we can ensure a hitch mounted rack will have enough space to accommodate the spare tire. This rack has a distance from center of hitch pin hole to the closest part of rack of 8-3/4".
