Recommended Roadmaster EZ5 Direct-Connect Base Plate For A 2021 Chevy Equinox

Question:

Hi, I recently upgraded my towed vehicle to a 2021 Chevy Equinox and need some parts to get it set up. I already have a Brake Buddy Classic 3 and the Roadmaster Sterling tow bar. The Sterling used the direct connect Easy5(?) connections on my previous vehicle, so I have been told, so I want to make sure the new base plate is compatible with that. I will also need some wiring. I have the incandescent tail lights, so it is not a Premier edition Equinox. Thanks.

We definitely have options available for your new 2021 Chevrolet Equinox. Having the tow bars and braking system from a previous vehicle definitely makes life easier, and the Sterling tow bar ( # RM-522) will have no problem handling the weight.

So to start, the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5 will require a little trimming to get installed, but is specifically for your vehicle. The removable arms are Roadmaster's EZ5 Direct-Connect style connection, so it will have absolutely no problem hooking up to your Sterling tow bars.

As to the wiring, having the incandescent lights will not pose an issue either. The Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RM26FR is designed specifically for this style of tail light and will be what you need to get said tail lights and braking system up and running.

I included install and review videos for all these parts as well.
