Ways to Gain Ground Clearance to Prevent Scrape 2021 Montana High Country 335BH
Question:
Situation - just traded a 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 3.0.5MBOK for a 2021 Montana High Country 335BH, problem I have now is the rear end scrapes backing up my driveway now, where the Jayco never scrapped. I know the tire size is a bit different, Jayco - 235/85R16, and the Montana - 235/80R16, the king pin box on both campers are moved to the top position, but I still have an issue because the new Montana, which I just bought and the dealer ship told me I should be “better” due to the length from the tire to the low point on the Montana was 18” shorter, them saying the Montana should be better to go up my driveway. So now that I have it home and up the driveway, scrapping about 18-24” on my drive, I am thinking about getting a taller tire to possibly push the back side of the camper up just a bit so I won’t scrape… if that makes sense, but I want to stay safe and do the right size… Info on my truck: 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins 4x4 with air suspension from factory on truck. Our driveway is a T from the main road, with little to no room to swing off road. I also have no way to “pull” up the drive and turn around.

Going with a taller tire will give you additional clearance so that the rear of your trailer stops dragging. So for that you could use the # LHWL410 which is the next taller size of 235/85R16. Another option would be a lift kit like the part # RR23QX which would give you additional height of 2-1/4 inches.

Just out of curiosity, there are three points at where these axles connect to the frame on the outer sides of both the tires and then in the middle, this kit only has enough brackets to do the outer brackets or points where the leaf springs connect to the frame, is there not supposed to be brackets on the middle portion as well?
