I have edited a cut-away photo for you showing how the cushions of the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter work.

The photo shows an older version of the # CAB-C5G, but the cushioning on the current model looks and acts similarly. The polyurethane cushions help isolate the portion of the assembly that attaches to the gooseneck ball from the portion of the assembly that attaches to the fifth wheel pin box.

The CAB-C5G does not include the optional bolts to secure the hitch plate to the underside of the pin box, as Convert-A-Ball guarantees that the non-offset models will not separate from the king pin. If you would feel better having the bolts in place, Convert-A-Ball will provide them free of charge by contacting them at 1-800-543-1732.
