How to Find Height of Cutout for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Tailgate on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Question:

How tall is the Stromberg Carlson 4000 tailgate on the 2003 Ram 2500 across the lower midsection? I want to put a tool box in the bed just inside the bed and need to know what the deepest box I can go without getting above the lower section of the tailgate. Thank you.

The Louvered Tailgate Insert # VI-4000 for the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock for Dodge Trucks # VGD-02-4000 is about 9-3/4" tall so if you measure down about 10" from the top of your bed rails on your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 that will be how tall you'll want to go with a tool box. I don't have a way to get a measurement from the bottom of the tailgate to the top of the cutout which is why you'll need to measure down about 10".
