Correct Adapter for 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Conversion with a Recessed Ball
Question:
I have a F350 crewcab skirted flatbed with a recessed ball. it appears to be 1inch below the bed, so it seems that I may have to go with a C-A-B instead of converting with the in-bed adaptor to 5th wheel hitch. Any suggestions are appreciated as this is my 1st experience at this. Also, my bed length from bumper to center of ball is 58 1/2inch - would you suggest that I go with an adaptor that also adds length to give more room between truck and RV? Thank you for your time

I would be happy to help you and I have a couple of options for you depending on the dimensions of your recessed ball. The first option and the one I would strongly recommend is the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball item # DM8550046 will fit a recessed ball mount if the ball sits no lower than 13/16" from the top of the bed. It has a gross towing weight of 21,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 5,250 lbs.
The other option is the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter item # AM3139. This adapter has an 8" offset which will address the 58 1/2" distance between your bumper and the gooseneck ball. You will need the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter item # AM3103 for the installation.
