TImbren Axle-Less Suspension on a Rebuilt Camper
Question:
Im rebuilding a camper that originally used a torsion axle. Its a 1986 and I assume that axle is worn out. The frame rides so close to the ground that I cant imagine there being much absorption left. Id like to replace them, but Im not sure what to use. The axle free suspension looks nice but Im on a budget and the camper wont weigh very much when finished. I imagine itll be less than 1500 lbs full. Can you give me any advice? I would even consider leaf spring suspensions if thats not too difficult to work with. I dont have the width off hand but Im guessing the outside hub to outside hub is probably 6 feet. Maybe a little less.

I would be happy to help you. I know you said you were on a budget but for your application the axle free suspension is the way to go. By the time you replace the axle and mounts, get new hubs, and add a set of leaf springs with hangers you're going to be close if not over the price of a axle-less suspension system. I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System with Hubs item # A20RS545. This system is rated for 2,000 lbs and has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. It is a bolt on application that will require no welding.
