What Does Amp Rating Mean For Transfer Switch & Can 30 Amp Work w/ 50 Amp Shore Power

Question:

I understand what a transfer relay does with an RV inverter but, what does 30 amp on transfer relay mean. I see some with 30 amp and some with 50 amp. Will a 30 amp work with 50 amp shore power?

The 30 amp or 50 amp is just the power the transfer switches are rated for in order to match the 30 amp or 50 amp power that RV's are rated for. So in general, if your RV is rated for 50 amps, you use the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch - 50 Amp - 125/250V # F50ATS, and if it is rated for 30 amps, you use the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch - 30 Amp - 120V # F30ATS.

That said, you can use a 30 amp system and transfer switch with 50 amp shore power, you just need to use a power cord adapter as you would normally, such as the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter - 30 Amp Female to 50 Amp Male # A10-5030FHVP.
