Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2022 Ford F-150

I need a roof rack and carrier for a fairly long (13ft) kayak that I'd like to carry on my 2022 Ford F-150 Super Crew. Is there a option that would be more quiet than the square type bar rack I had on my old truck?

I hear you. Square and round profile roof rack crossbars aren't very aerodynamic, so at certain speeds the wind howling past them can indeed get pretty obnoxious.

I'd recommend a rack that uses elliptical profiled crossbars, such as the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack which will be more quiet that the square bars you're more familiar with. Keep in mind, though that adding anything to the roof of a vehicle will cause wind noise. Adding a carrier and a kayak will create more noise than just having a roof rack, so you'll want to be aware of that.

The roof rack would consist of the following parts:

• Thule 60 inch WingBar Evo Crossbars, in black as part # TH711520 or # TH711500 for silver
• Thule Evo Clamp Feet, part # TH710501
• Vehicle Specific Clamp Kit for Ford F150 Super Crew Cab, part # TH145177

For a kayak carrier, I'd recommend I'd go with a folding carrier like the etrailer brand # e98878 kayak carrier. The carrier has a 150 lb capacity, and would work just fine with a kayak such as you described. The carrier includes the straps used to secure the kayak to the rack, as well as the bow/stern tie-downs and the anchor straps that can be shut in the hood/tailgate to provide a secure place to mount the tie downs.
