Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller Not Powering On
Question:
Vehicle info: Year: 2011 Make: GMC Model: Sierra 1500 Denali I bought a travel trailer from a 3rd party. He gave me this brake controller and claimed he used it every time he pulled the trailer, including when he pulled the trailer from Colorado to Missouri and back the week before I bought the trailer. I cannot even get it to power on. I have circuit tested every PIN on my 7-way on my truck and all test positive. The PIN in the 11 oclock position goes to the battery. With the truck powered on and the trailering button ed that PIN tests positive with a 12v circuit tester. Meaning, from my understanding, the truck is providing power through that PIN. What else could be wrong? Is this brake controller possibly not compatible with my truck? I read another post where a guy with a Honda was told the power PIN was at the 1 oclock position. Maybe this controller is expecting my power PIN in the 1 oclock position? On my truck the PIN at 1 oclock is for tail and running lights, and in fact does test positive when I turn on the lights on my truck.

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional # C51180 is compatible with a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, with or without a factory tow package.
Your 12 volt power should come from the 1 o'clock position when looking into the truck's connector and should always have power if the vehicle is on. I will attach a wiring guide for you just in case. Once you have power and the echo is on you can connect to it.
Make sure you are pairing the echo with your phone via the app. You can find the app on your google play or apple store.
