Towing Capacity of Fixed Ball Mounts

Question:

Hello, I read a note quoted below Note: Use of any ball mount with a 10inch reduces the trailer hitch capacity by 1/3. Your towing capacity is limited to 2/3 of your lowest rated towing component - be it the vehicle, hitch, ball mount, hitch ball etc. So is it safe to think I will lose 1/6 of tow capacity if I use 5 inch ? Thank you.

The Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" hitches - 8-3/4" Rise - 10" Drop - 8,000 lbs item # AMSC10 that was previously referenced is a superior hitch to the Brophy 10" drop item # BM10. It is a stronger reinforced hitch that has a higher weight capacity of 8,000 lbs over the Brophy which only has a 7,500 lbs limit. The use of the Convert-A-Ball fixed mount item # AMSC10 will not reduce your vehicle, hitch, or hitch balls towing capacity. For a fixed ball mount with a 5" rise I recommend the Curt Ball Mount Item # C45336. This fixed ball mount is for 2" hitches it has a 5" rise, 6-1/8" drop, is 9-3/8", long, and has a 10,000 lbs capacity.

Neither the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount item # AMSC10 or the Curt item # C45336 fixed ball mounts will reduce the towing capacity of your 2010 Honda Odyssey.
