Why Is The Reese SideWinder Not Recommended To Use With B&W Companion
Question:
I have a BandW companion that mounts in my BandW turnover gooseneck ball. The specs for the sidewinder pin box says it is not compatible with my companion hitch but a few of the reviews talk about it working great. I have a 2017 Grand Design 27RL which is a lighter trailer. Do you still not recommend it? What are some other options to decrease the turning radius using my BandW companion. Tow vehicle is 05 Ram 2500 short box

The reason the 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret # RP61422 is not recommended to use with a B&W turnover ball hitch is because the mounting point for the B&W Companion will allow for too much movement which could damage the hitch.
There is a way to decrease your turning radius by locking out the rotating pin box and then use a sliding hitch like the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W in your turnoverball since you have a short bed; or you can remove the Turnoverball and replace it with standard above bed rails so you can use a fixed hitch rated for a sidewinder.
