Recommended Replacement Electric Tongue Jack for Airstream Land Yacht

Question:

I have a 1972 airstream land yacht overlander 28’ and the electric jack on it is ancient not sure if original not sure they had electric jacks back then The clearance of the post is awful What should I look for when considering a new electric jack and is it possible to get one where the post comes all the way up flush with the bottom of the hitch and/or trailer? Mehta measurements do I need to consider? I live in Colorado with lots of dispersed camping trips planned so the more clearance the better Which products would you recommend? Thanks!

The type jack you are needing for your 28 foot 1972 Airstream Land Yacht, if you wish to replace with a similar type jack, is referred to as an A-frame Trailer Jack. Yes clearance with most of these jacks won't be great. For a powered option, I suggest the Lippert Power Stance Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate - A-Frame - 18" Lift, # LC69VR. While this wires in to the 12V system on your camper, you can also get the Auxiliary Power Cord for Lippert Power Stance Electric Trailer Jack, # LC79VR too. This cord allows you to power your Power Stance RV tongue jack directly from the 7-way on your tow vehicle in case the battery on your Airstream is dead. This is my preferred powered jack option.

The A-frame Trailer Jacks come in manual crank or 12VDC powered options. There is a manual version with a swivel feature on some designs that you may want to review due to your concerns of clearance. Please note the helpful link I have listed below to view some of these options.

The extended and retracted height measurements are important in finding the right jack for you and your trailer. These measurements determine the distance from the bottom of the Jack mounting flange when fully retracted and extended. With these measurements, you can determine how the jack will mount and what clearance will be needed for hooking/unhooking and travel.
