Troubleshooting Pollak 40-amp Circuit Breaker Constantly Clicking

Question:

I have this circuit breaker installed and it worked perfect the first time I towed my trailer. But the last 2 times I towed I can hear it constantly clicking. Is this a normal thing that is suppose to happen? I just want to make sure that doesn’t mean there is a short somewhere or the circuit is not working correctly

The Pollak 40-amp circuit breaker # 9510 you have installed is not supposed to be constantly clicking.

That noise is actually the breaker tripping and then auto resetting. You will want to make sure that each power wire going to the circuit breaker is securely connected via the two nuts, and you will want to make sure there is no obvious short.

This breaker tripping constantly does mean that there is a short or another issue on that circuit, so thoroughly inspect the component powered by the breaker and all the wiring going to that component.

I included a link to a helpful article on wiring that may help you with the troubleshooting.
