B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch Jaws Won't Release
Question:
Parking on a city street curb with typical fall to the curb side and the claws will not release. Tried up higher with out success. Arm basically does nothing. Got unhitched by releasing head and raising trailer up until we could clear the hitch. We’ve had trailer and hitch 3 years and this is parking at our home that we’ve done many times.

The B&W Companion Slider Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3400 has a cam-action handle which should aid with uncoupling on uneven terrain but it does have its limits. If you're having trouble with uncoupling then I recommend finding a completely flat surface like a parking lot to unhitch that way you can inspect the hitch after for any issues. Please note, there is a grease zerk on the underside of the head unit that you will need to apply grease to periodically for proper operation.
If you feel there is an issue with your Companion then you will need to reach out to B&W for troubleshooting assistance as they handle all of these issues directly.
