Why Would Battery of Tow Vehicle Not Be Above 12 Volts When Charged with Charge Kit

Question:

2017 jeep cherokee battery not charging from Motor Home. If I disconnect charge line to car battery I read 13.8v on both sides of the circuit breaker with the MH running. With line connected to + side of jeep battery I only read battery voltage. After towing for a 100 miles or so battery is near 12.0v. My jeep does have the upgrade that keeps the power steering running while towing.

The gauge of the wire used from your motorhome to your tow vehicle and the length of it is probably why you aren't getting a really significant charge. It does sound like your tow vehicle is getting a charge on it's battery but it's not significant enough of a charge to keep it topped off since the wire is a lighter gauge. You might need to drop down to an 8 gauge wire which is not one we carry.
