What Parts Are Needed To Install Redarc Tow-Pro Elite In 2014 Jeep Wrangler W/ Aftermarket 7-way?
Question:
Hi there, i installed the 7 pin wiring harness to my jeep a while ago and now i am ready to add a brake controller. I am interested in the RED44FR controller but cant seem to find a straight answer on how to wire it to the harness. I have a blue wire that i fed through the firewall when installing the harness that is just zip tied out of the way. My understanding is that this blue wire now needs to connect to the controller but not sure if i need another harness to do so. Please help. Many thanks

I would be happy to help!
The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR is a fantastic choice for your 2014 Jeep Wrangler as it is a very low profile controller with only the control knob visible once installed, and it being a proportional controller meaning it detects the intensity you use to apply your vehicle brakes and sends the exact same braking intensity to your trailer brakes for smooth and controlled braking.
To install this on your Jeep you do not need any other harness, but will need the install kit # 5506.
You will need to make the following connections:
Blue wire from controller harness to blue wire you ran from your 7-way connector.
.
Red wire to the cold side of the stop light switch that only has power when the brake pedal is pressed. Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 will help you find the correct wire.
White wire to ground.
Black wire to the positive terminal of your battery with the 30 amp circuit breaker included with the # 5506.
I included a video of the # RED44FR for you to take a look at.
