Helpful Expert Reply:
The factory 4-way of your 2018 Ford F-150 is looking for a certain amount of amperage load to verify that a trailer is connected, and the lighted hitch covers like the # CR-007 put such a small amount of additional load that the truck ends up thinking that a taillight must be blown. Since there isn't a consistent way to trick your truck into thinking a trailer is connected your best option would be to bypass the vehicle wiring and install a universal 4-way kit like the # 18252 to give you a 4-way that will be completely independent.
