What Can I Do To Remove The Play Between My Kuat Transfer - 2 Bike And My Hitch Receiver

Question:

Even with the bolt fully tightened I can move the rack up at least 1-2 inches. This up and down motion when driving loosens the bolt quite quickly. I have a factory 1-1/4” Subaru hitch. Do I need some type of shim? Thank you.

You should not need a shim for your Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # KU84FR. I do have some suggestions for you that might help you get a tighter fit for your hitch bike rack. If you are still getting 1 - 2" of movement between your hitch bike rack and your hitch receiver, you can tighten that hitch bolt while you are moving the Kuat Transfer in the hitch receiver. If you tighten that bolt as you are wiggling the rack, you should start seeing less movement in the hitch bike rack. That is something I have always done whenever I have installed a hitch bike rack on a vehicle. I had to do that as recently as today, when I reinstalled my hitch bike rack. If that does not do the trick, you could use the Loctite Blue Stick Threadlocker - Medium Strength - 1/4" to 3/4" Nut/Bolt - 0.32 Oz Stick, part # LT37643, in conjunction with my earlier suggestion.

I have included a video demo of the Loctite below.
