Can I Put Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK 35 SA on My Trailer if it Has a Plate Welded to Axle
Question:
I have a 1974 camper trailer that was made into a flatbed. Im turning it back into a camper. It has Daytona Fayette axles and drums. I want to replace the brakes. From what I see on your web page the AKEBRK 35 SA will fit, but the back plate on my trailer is welded to the axle. Looking at the pictures of the AKEBRK 35 SA, it looks like I can take the brakes and magnet of the back plate and mount them onto my plate. Is this correct? If not do you have individual shoes and magnets I could use? Thanks

The Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs
Item # AKEBRK-35-SA is a complete brake assembly and not able to be used separately.
The recommendation I have for you would be to purchase a new axle like the Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles - 4" Drop - 89" Long - 3,500 lbs # e53GR. With this new axle you will not have to with the back plate that is welded on to your current axle and your brakes and axle will all be new.
