Will Rhino-Rack Roof Basket Fit Curved Crossbars and Is a Lock Available For It

Question:

I have a 2016 Explorer Sport with the Aero type bars attached to the factory rails. These bars have a bow to them as they extend over the car roof. Does this cargo rack mounting hardware accommodate the bow in the bars? All the pictures I have seen show somewhat flat Aero bars and from the pictures it looks like the mounting hardware is not adjustable to handle the curvature of the bars. Also, is there a lock available so it doesnt grow feet and disappear if left unattended for a while? Thanks,

Having a slight curve to roof rack rails, like what you have on your 2016 Ford Explorer Sport, is a normal occurrence and is something that is taken into account for roof mounted accessories. Your question is definitely understandable and I can reassure you that the Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket # RMCB02 will fit great with your setup.

While do I think it's very unlikely for the cargo basket to grow feet, it isn't entirely out of the question for someone with a greedy eye to want to remove it from your roof and run off with it. To help deter theft you can either use one of the locking solutions on the linked page to wrap a lock around the basket and your roof rack, or you can go with a different cargo basket that gives you the option to add locks. I recommend one of the following:

Yakima MegaWarrior - # Y07080
Locking Brackets - # Y07064

Yakima OffGrid - # Y07138
Same Key System - # Y07204

The MegaWarrior has a rail all the way around but uses U-Bolts to secure around the crossbar while the OffGrid has rails on 3 sides but has a mounting system that is much easier to use and adjust. I've attached some review videos for all 3 baskets for you to check out.
