Can You Install Fifth Wheel Base Rails Three Inches Forward Of The Rear Axle Centerline
Question:
Reading some of the information about rail installation there was a mention that the rails could be installed three inch forward of the rear axle centerline. This installation would not increase the load on the front axle, but would it be enough to decrease the rear load and not cause the pickup to cause the head lights to be aimed to high. Any information about the installation to even the load that would keep the pickup on a level the same as without a load. Thanks for your help.

The Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50066-58 are not a fit with your 2019 Ram 1500 and are actually for Chevy/GMC's.
The correct rails for your vehicle are the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56018-53. The instructions for these rails will actually have you place these 2-11/16" forward of the rear axle center line so you'll already be close to that 3 inches forward. I highly recommend following the directions when installing these rails and brackets and not pushing it forward any further.
To help with the load and to keep your truck bed level you can install the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR1500DQ. These Jounce-Style springs have a 8,600 combined capacity to provide additional support as needed, so you always get a smooth, comfortable ride. They'll help reduce side-to-side play you might experience when making turns or from passing trucks.
