Troubleshooting Brake Controller Where It Shows Flashing Connection

Question:

My Prodigy break controller has worked very well until recently. Now as soon as you turn the switch on in my 2011 Chevrolet silverado 1500 the break controller shows breaking and fluctuates on power with no trailer connected to the truck. Thought it was a bad controller, purchased a new one. Installed new wiring harness and the new one does the exact same thing.

Sounds like you have a wiring issue at the 7-way at the rear of your vehicle. Most likely this is just due to corrosion which can be easily cleaned off with sandpaper but it could also be exposed wire on the back of the 7-way that is touching which would cause a short.
