Troubleshooting Camera Not Supported Error on GCH 3rd Brake Light Camera for 2021 Ford F-250

Question:

Hello, I installed the 3rd brake light camera as instructions say and watched the video numerous times. I am getting a blue screen at times and sometimes a black screen and after a few second a pop window comes up saying camera not supported, contact dealership. I eliminated the toggle switch and using the upfitter switch in my 2021 F250. Do you connect both red wires Camera red and toggle red that I cut to the upfitter switch? I connected both grounds as well, 1 from the camera pigtail and the other from the T harness which is black with a red stripe. What did I do wrong?

What's likely going on with your Custom Third Brake Light Camera for 8" Factory Monitor - Night Vision # 3460006 is down to the power source of the camera, as this is most frequently the culprit when we see this error pop up.

Sometimes the upfitter switches aren't powered correctly so I would verify the power on the switch to start. I would also need to know if the signal is going through when the vehicle is put in reverse at all, or if this happens when switching between the 3rd brake light and reverse camera functions. If this is happening only when you put the vehicle in reverse there's a bad video switcher on the system and that would need to be replaced. There's also a chance that the camera itself got unplugged during installation if you had to tug on it at all, so you'll want to re-check the camera connection since this error is commonly seen when the camera isn't powered or plugged in.

If you can let me know what you find at the upfitter switch and when exactly this error is occurring I can continue helping you troubleshoot this issue.
