Comparing the Redarc Tow Pro Elite to Tow Pro Liberty for 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I am looking for the ability to manually, and progressively, apply only the trailer brakes in an emergency... like you can do with a time delay unit where you pull the lever with your hand to apply as much or as little braking as you want. Does overrideinch allow me to do this and does the knob then go from 0=no brakes to 10=lock up? Also, I realize the Tow Pro Elite may do this if the Liberty does not please verify but do you really have to push/turn/apply breaks and say Beetle Juice 3 times to activate that mode in an emergency vs. just grabbing the lever like in the old days?

The Redarc Tow Pro Liberty # RED24FR does not have the ability to function in the manner that you're seeking but the Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR does with its user controlled mode-which is what the knob is used for. The Tow Pro Elite gives you the best of both worlds in terms of providing you with the proportional braking that's easy to use and applies the trailer brakes in proportion to the deceleration of the tow vehicle and the user controlled braking mode; the Tow Pro Liberty will only function as a proportional controller with the knob serving as a manual override.

In order to install the Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR on your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee you can use the plug and play adapter # RED77FR, which makes getting setup a breeze and won't require any splicing into your vehicle's wiring.

Overall it sounds like you're going to want to go with the Elite in order to get the most flexibility.
